Long-eared Owl, Asio otus

A medium-sized nocturnal raptor. It occurs in conifer and broad-leaved forests, but even near inhabited areas. It feeds on rodents and small birds and nests in tree holes or in other deserted bird-nests. The false "ears" are formed of feathers.
