Invasive species - Pets

Pets come from three main sources, legal and illegal trade and collection from the wild. The two latter have caused severe decline in several species' populations globally bringing some to the brink of extinction.

The animals exhibited come from owners that could not keep them. Buying a pet we should make sure that we can and have the will to keep it. If however, we see that we cannot sustain it any longer, in no case do we release it in the wild. If it will not die directly (famine, inability to adapt, killed by other animals), it presents a potentially severe danger for the wild fauna due to possible diseases it may transmit.
