Black Francolin, Francolinus francolinus

A species that occupies the low altitudes, dry grasslands and open crops of western Asia. Likely brought to Cyprus by the Romans. Maintains a significant population size, unlike other Mediterranean islands (e.g. Crete and Sardinia) where the Black Francolin has become extinct.
