Osprey, Pandion haliaetus

A typical estuarine bird of prey, feeding almost exclusively on fish. In contrast to all other diurnal birds of prey, it has two claws to the front and two to the rear in order to catch its slippery prey more effectively. In the Eastern Mediterranean there are old records of its nesting, but nowadays it can only be observed during migration or winter.
