Otter, Lutra lutra

The Otter is the largest carnivore living in freshwater environments in Greece. We can easily detect its presence from its droppings, which contain fish bones and crab shells and are deposited in conspicuous places. In the past, it was hunted to the brink of extinction for its fur, but today the otter is strictly protected.
