Brown Bear, Ursus arctos

The bear is Europe’s largest, terrestrial living carnivore. In the past it was found in whole Europe, North America and Asia. Due to human activities, it is restricted to few mountainous areas and is considered to be endangered.
Its length reaches 2.8 m and its weight varies from 60 to 200 kg for the females and 100 to 315 kg for the males.
In winter it hibernates in caves or dens that it digs. It is omnivorous. It gives birth to 1 - 2 young, every 3 years or more. In natural conditions it can live up to 30 years.
